Arts on the Square Gallery

As part of our Arts on the Square Initiative and Market Square Church's ministry to support the arts, we host gallery showings of 2-D art created by members and select local artists in the Arts in the Square Gallery space. Each exhibit is displayed for approximately two months.  With each exhibit, we have an opening artist reception that is held on a Sunday, following our church service, from 12:00 noon-1:30 p.m.  Church members and the public are invited to attend. 

Painting to Poetry: Works By Georgia Earp

October 18, 2026 - January 10, 2027

Georgia Masters Earp, a Market Square Church member, is a published poet and a painter.  Her Arts on the Square Gallery exhibit will feature oils and watercolors with a focus on portraits and abstracts.  Georgia attended York Academy of Art and received a Bachelor’s in Art Education as well as a Master’s in Public Administration from the Pennsylvania State University.  She has taken classes at the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg, Florida, the Doylestown Art League, the Art Center of Mechanicsburg, and the Art Association of Harrisburg, where she won two second prizes for painting in the Art Association’s Student Art Shows.  She won an honorable mention from the Morean Arts Center for a photographic collage and two of her portraits were exhibited at the Mize Gallery in St. Petersburg. 

Since the pandemic in 2000, Georgia has been writing poetry in earnest.  Her poems have been widely published and her first book, “I Am From the 20th Century,” was published this year by Kelsay Books under her pen name Lucy Sage.  Born in Philadelphia, she has lived in the Philippines, Nigeria, England, and Florida.  Recently, she and her husband Ed lived in St. Petersburg, Florida, but returned to the Harrisburg area in 2023, where she has resided for most of her life.  She is retired from a public policy career with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Arts on the Square Gallery presents three exhibits annually at Market Square Church to showcase creativity and artworks by church members, friends, and special guests.  Receptions are hosted by Ashley and Joe Robinson.  Beth Hager is the Exhibits Coordinator for Arts on the Square.
